Kobo made the Aura One Kobo with the help of invited customers. The latter challenged the makers to enlarge the screen, improve the front-light technology and ease the access to their favourite stories. And here is the result. You can consider Aura ONE as the younger although bigger brother of Kobo Aura H2O. Both are waterproof but the Aura ONE has a bigger screen and other features delivering you the best readers’ experience ever. Also, it has an autoregulating screen illumination with less disturbing of your sleep.
How deep can you dive with this e-reader?
Since the Aura H2O, you can read e-books or e-newspapers in your bath or under the shower without a worry that your device will suffer from the water. Grace to the HZO Protection™’ at the e-reader’s inner side Aura ONE as well is completely waterproof and you can go until 2 meters deep for at most one hour.
You can illuminate the screen, a feature that exists since Sony unveiled the front-lit technology in the PRS-700 in 2008. However, the latter was received so badly that Sony didn’t continue with this technology. Only in 2012 Barnes & Noble came with the next and improved illuminated screen for their Nook. The light was sent out from below the text sending the light beams upwards. Kobo and Amazon’s Kindle’s illumination technology is based on the Nook one’s although much more refined. New in the Kobo Aura One is that ConfortLight PRO can autoregulate the quantity of light you exactly need for reading in the darkness. It has also a smaller quantity of blue light that would be responsible for bad sleep after reading. The blue light can namely disturb the production of the sleep hormone melatonin and make it hard to find your sleep.
Carta E-ink HD-scherm
As in other Kobo e-readers when reading in direct sunlight, Carta E-ink HD-scherm protects your eyes against sun glitter. It gives Kobo e-readers a mat screen that excludes sun beams being reflected in your eyes as is often the case with smartphones and tablets.
Screen 7,8 inch and a higher resolution.
The Aura ONE e-reader has an extra big screen and moreover, it has a resolution of 1872 x 1404 en 300 dpi (300 pixels per inch). This gives you a very sharp and thus easily readable text as if you’re looking at a printed text.
Connect and go!
With the built-in Wi-Fi, you can log in 24/7 and download from a database of some millions of e-books while you could already read saved e-books at every moment of the day. Also, there is a USB cable to connect to a computer. Creating a Kobo account is free and you don’t even need an e-reader, you can also download the app on the desktop of your computer but then, of course, you miss the experience you get with this e-reader.
